NP's can't write orders? I write orders every day. Every day - without having a cosign or any other paternalistic nonsense you'll mention in reply. Google is free buddy - use it.

loans, years and years and years of schooling, and the vicious cycle has demonstrated providers tend to practice nonholistic nursing in urban regions not rural regions, upward battles the health care system contend against. which provider is more cost-effective than the PA? why shift the blame on a career has ranked high on career lists? why shift the blame on a career a lot to offer the health care system?

Incorrect. NP's operate independently in 23 states with prescriptive authority in all 50. For more info, Google the Pearson Report for more info or check with states board of nursing.

The profession opposes this act. NPs can't write orders. What is your point?

NPs in all states have limited prescriptive authority. PAs can't practice surgery on their own. They are authorized to prescribe. PAs oppose solo practice. career market flooded with physicians, solo NPs, and NPs. PAs have a 27% prospect increase to 2013. They're have lower malpractice, are highly eductated and cover more ground than a doc.

A few other differences between PA's and NP's:1) NP's can practice as independent providers in 23 states without a physician supervisor, where as PA's can not work in any state without a physician supervisor.2) NP's have prescriptive authority in ALL states, where PA's prescriptive authority relies on the formulary dictated by the supervising physician.3) NP's may obtain their own Medicare provider number4) By 2015, NP's must possess a doctorate degree for board eligibility.

An NP can practice independently (in some states this would include a limited prescriptive authority). PAs can't do this. FYI. |
